NES
| EarthBound Beginnings | - | |
| Kirby's Adventure | Much more beginner friendly for an NES game, adore the pixel art style. | |
| Super Mario Bros. 3 | Super difficult to beat in one go without save states. Still prefer the original NES art style. |
Game Boy
| Kirby's Dream Land | Short and simple, not much replay value. | |
| Kirby's Dream Land 2 | Impressive and polished for a Game Boy game, but some uninspired level design. | |
| Metroid II: Return of Samus | - | |
| Pokémon Blue/Red | - | |
| Pokémon Trading Card Game | - | |
| Pokémon Yellow | I am not nostalgic with this game, super slow and janky, but still charming. | |
| Super Mario Land | - | |
| Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins | Really enjoy the quirkiness and freedom to choose worlds, controls are a little janky. | |
| Tetris | Original still holds up very well, addicting formula, but without conveniences. |
SNES
| EarthBound | A cult-classic for a reason, sentimental and charmingly quirky, one of my favorite games of all time. | |
| F-Zero | - | |
| Final Fantasy IV (USA) | My first Final Fantasy game, genuinely surprised by the twist, grindy but enjoyable story. | |
| Kirby Super Star | Love the package of subgames in one package, great replay value to hop in and out. | |
| Kirby's Dream Course | - | |
| Kirby's Dream Land 3 | Super cute style, but slugglish controls and uninteresting collectibles. | |
| The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past | Time-tested Zelda formula with difficult and obtuse moments. Or maybe I'm just bad. | |
| Mario Paint | Super charming art tool, mouse controls are a bit outdated by today's standards. | |
| Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge | - | |
| Super Mario All-Stars | - | |
| Super Mario Kart | A little nostalgic, but controls have not aged well at all, CPUs cheat. | |
| Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars | - | |
| Super Mario World | Such a whimsical game with whimsical music! Some mean levels towards the end. | |
| Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island | Cute aesthetic and soundtrack, but gets punishing and not very cozy towards the end. | |
| Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time | Classic beat-'em-up but I'm bad at them, my cousin had this game growing up. | |
| Tetris Attack | Love the Yoshi aesthetic, can be more enjoyable and addicting than actual Tetris. |
N64
| Banjo Kazooie | I'm not nostlagic for 3D platformers at all, clunky moveset, punishing collectible requirements, unfair level design. | |
| Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards | Impressive and adorable visuals for N64, but sluggish movement and uninspired collectible system. | |
| The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time | - | |
| Mario Kart 64 | Iconic courses with really janky controls, love the soundtrack and perfectly 90's art direction. | |
| Mario Party 2 | - | |
| Mario Party 3 | - | |
| Mario Tennis | - | |
| Paper Mario | Surprisingly holds up as a turn-based RPG, very charming but a little cumbersome to navigate. | |
| Pokémon Puzzle League | - | |
| Pokémon Snap | - | |
| Pokémon Stadium 2 | Surprisingly beefy game with impressive features and animations, but the CPUs are unnecessarily difficult. | |
| Super Mario 64 | Revolutionary for its time, but super janky now. Almost always miss jumps and fall off. | |
| Super Smash Bros. | Respect the roots, but the movement is a little too janky to play. | |
| Yoshi's Story | - |
Game Boy Color
| Kirby Tilt n' Tumble | - | |
| The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX | Surprisingly robust top-down Zelda, but some annoying obtuse puzzle sequences. Really easy dungeon bosses. | |
| The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons | My first top-down Zelda, really struggled to navigate as a first-timer with the changing seasons mechanic. | |
| Pokémon Crystal | Charming Johto adventure with some quality-of-life features, preferred way to play old-school Gen 2. | |
| Pokémon Gold/Silver | Robust Johto journey but with antiquated limitations like limited evolution stones and move tutors. | |
| Pokémon Pinball | - | |
| Pokémon Puzzle Challenge | - |
Game Boy Advance
| Camp Lazlo: Leaky Lake Games | - | |
| Cars | - | |
| Catz | Weird Japanese-inspired assets, but charming pet simulator. Game never saved my progress. | |
| The Incredibles | My first beat-em-up. Restarted the game multiple times because of password system. Holds up as a licensed movie game. | |
| Kirby & The Amazing Mirror | - | |
| Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga | Fun and kinetic RPG, some quirky minigames and platforming challenges. Super challening and frustrating final boss. | |
| Mario Kart: Super Circuit | - | |
| Metroid: Zero Mission | My first Metroid game, finally understood the appeal of the series. Satisfying exploring and upgrade loop. Had to play on easy mode. | |
| Pokémon Emerald | The definitive way to play Gen 3, much needed quality-of-life features for modern games. Love/hate relationship with the Battle Frontier. | |
| Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen | Technically a better way to play Kanto, but some really strange design decisions that hold back the experience. | |
| Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team | Very impressive first entry, love the story, gets very difficult towards late-game. | |
| Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire | Still fun Hoenn adventure, but admittedly limited to less modern mechanics. | |
| Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 | Played a bootleg copy as a kid, voice lines are annoyingly charming. Somehow made it to World 5 without knowing how to run or fly. |
GameCube
| Animal Crossing | - | |
| Kirby Air Ride | - | |
| The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker | The most beginner-friendly Zelda game I played. Cute and timeless art style. | |
| Luigi's Mansion | - | |
| Mario Kart: Double Dash!! | One of my childhood games that my cousin owned. Super snappy and chaotic gameplay. Iconic soundtrack. | |
| Mario Party 4 | My favorite game of all time. Super nostalgic boards and music, mastered a bunch of minigames. | |
| Mario Party 5 | Feels a bit unpolished and incomplete. Some minigames are fun, but game overall feels bloated. | |
| Mario Party 6 | - | |
| Mario Party 7 | - | |
| Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door | Standout story with diverse and memorable characters, refined combat system. | |
| Pokémon Colosseum | Extremely sluggish and frustrating Pokémon adventure. Don't understand the nostalgia. | |
| Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness | Slightly more refined Colosseum but still sluggish and bland adventure. | |
| The Sims Bustin' Out | - | |
| Super Mario Strikers | - | |
| Super Mario Sunshine | - | |
| Super Smash Bros. Melee | Still holds up to this day in terms of polish and content, even if the sweaties took it to the extreme. Perfect snapshot of Y2K Nintendo. |
DS
| Animal Crossing: Wild World | Impressive content for the DS. Charming but choppy experience. | |
| Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force | Cute and compact missions based on website missions. Classic Club Penguin style. | |
| Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force - Herbert's Revenge | Some recycled missions from the website, but better minigames and still maintained the classic art style. | |
| Kirby: Squeak Squad | - | |
| Kirby Super Star Ultra | Definitive version of Super Star, perfect for portable gaming. Love the Meta Knightmare Ultra mode. | |
| Mario Kart DS | Fully featured portable Mario Kart that still holds up well. A little unfair item balancing. | |
| Mario Party DS | Very underrated classic Mario Party. Played a ton during car rides as a kid. | |
| Metroid Prime Hunters | - | |
| New Super Mario Bros. | Really fun retro revival first entry. More innovative than future entries. | |
| Pokémon Black/White | Didn't love it back when it first released, but grew on me. Cool and unique story for the franchise. | |
| Pokémon Black 2/White 2 | Made Unova much prettier and more polished. A lot more quality-of-life features that we take for granted now. | |
| Pokémon Diamond/Pearl | VERY clunky and slow, but also nostalgic and my first Pokémon adventure. | |
| Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver | Filled with polish and care, one of the best remakes ever. My first ever Johto journey. | |
| Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness | First played it on an R4 full of games my sister chose. Got hooked into the story and gameplay. | |
| Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky | Even more polished and fleshed out, essentially replaces the originals. | |
| Pokémon Platinum | The definitive way to play Sinnoh. Much snappier, more lore, more polish. Nostalgic soundtrack. | |
| Pokémon Ranger | - | |
| Rhythm Heaven | Very charming and quirky style and gameplay. Much less forgiving than I expected. | |
| Tetris Party Deluxe | - | |
| Yoshi's Island DS | - |
Xbox 360
| Just Dance 3 | Novel first Kinect Just Dance, but sensor recognition was very wonky for some songs. Still fun to play without a remote. | |
| Just Dance 4 | My favorite Just Dance even more enhanced with the improved Kinect implementation. Outstanding tracklist. | |
| Just Dance 2014 | Most amount of content in a Just Dance game, very impressive modes and tracklist. | |
| Just Dance 2015 | Decent downgrade of tracklist, but still fun dancing. Less innovative than last entry. | |
| Just Dance 2017 | Okay tracklist, somewhat repetitive dance moves, some annoying and bland songs. | |
| Just Dance 2019 | Memorized the entire tracklist for a Just Dance tournament. Learned to tolerate tracklist, still not my favorite. Extreme versions are very fun. | |
| Viva Piñata | - |
Wii
| Animal Crossing: City Folk | The least popular of the main series, but I think it's still a decent Animal Crossing game with the classic formula. Runs buttery smooth. | |
| Cooking Mama: Cook Off | Surprisingly fun and a little janky for a cooking minigame collection. Played a lot with my sister during childhood. | |
| Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party | First DDR game I owned because I missed playing Extreme 2 for the PS2 at my summer daycare. Can't go wrong with a DDR game, got really challenging for me. | |
| Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2 | - | |
| Fortune Street | Underrated and cult classic party game. Really difficult for me to grasp but quickly became very fun to play with friends. | |
| Just Dance | Very novel concept as a motion control game, but super primitive and janky to play now. Uniquely vintage song selection. | |
| Just Dance: Greatest Hits | - | |
| Just Dance 2 | Huge improvement in every aspect of a Just Dance game. Dance moves, UI, scoring, tracklist all improved. | |
| Just Dance 3 | Even sleeker refinements to user experience. New modes, cleaner UI, achievements. Feels more like a game-game for a dance game. | |
| Just Dance 4 | My favorite Just Dance game ever. Favorite tracklist, UI, dance moves, extra modes, and scoring. Peak balance of accessibility and challenge. | |
| Just Dance 2014 | Most fully featured Just Dance. Has all legacy modes, more variations, more unlockables than ever. Slight downgrade in tracklist. | |
| Just Dance Summer Party | Just a repackaged DLC pack, but great for preservation. Compact but good continuation of Just Dance 2 experience. | |
| Kirby's Dream Collection | Amazing legacy compilation. Full of charm and thoughtful content. | |
| Kirby's Epic Yarn | Very cute and relaxing 2D platformer. Gets a bad rap for being too easy, but I think it still fits the series well. | |
| Kirby's Return to Dream Land | Pretty good classic 2D Kirby game. Not too offensive, fun multiplayer, good amount of collectibles and side modes. | |
| The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess | Respect the darker tone but a lot of mechanics have not aged well. Obtuse puzzles and clunky gameplay. | |
| Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games | - | |
| Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games | Really novel crossover that can only happen in the 2000s. Above average minigame collection with a little janky motion controls. | |
| Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games | - | |
| Mario Kart Wii | Super nostalgic Mario Kart title. First game that I basically completed with all the trophies. Very chaotic and unfair item balance but iconic courses and soundtrack. | |
| Mario Party 8 | First Mario Party that I owned, played so much with my sister. Motion controls aren't that bad. | |
| Mario Party 9 | Commend the formula change, but executed poorly. Takes the fun out of navigating the boards. Fun minigames, though. | |
| Mario Super Sluggers | My first Mario Baseball game, simple, fun, and charming presentation. Gameplay is decent for a baseball game. | |
| New Super Mario Bros. Wii | Really fun but extremely chaotic in multiplayer. Some collectibles and secrets are really mean. | |
| Rhythm Heaven Fever | Extremely charming and replayable game. Memorable tracks and minigames, epitome of Nintendo quirkiness. | |
| Super Mario Galaxy | Holds up really well as a Mario game. Approachable gameplay. Memorable soundtrack and level design. | |
| Super Mario Galaxy 2 | Played this before Galaxy 2. More linear levels, but I don't mind cuz they're still fun. Yoshi inclusion is automatically a better game. | |
| Super Smash Bros. Brawl | One of my favorite Smash games content-wise. Iconic single player campaign with lots to unlock. Tripping is stupid, though. | |
| Wii Fit | Cute concept of game-ifying workouts. Fun little minigames, but not substantial enough. | |
| Wii Fit Plus | Better version with more content, basically the same game, but more definitive. | |
| Wii Play | Surprisingly robust minigame collection. Intertwined with Wii nostalgia, especially Tanks. | |
| Wii Play: Motion | Less memorable collection, but not many offensively bad minigames. Wii Motion Plus utilized pretty well. | |
| Wii Sports | All-time Wii classic for a reason. Simple pick-up-and-play concept that never gets old. | |
| Wii Sports Resort | More definitive Wii Sports, one of my favorite Wii games. Adore the contextualization of all sports on Wuhu Island. Best use of Wii Motion Plus. |
3DS
| Animal Crossing: New Leaf | My first ever Animal Crossing. Instantly hooked and played every day from 2015 to 2016. A very sentimental game for me. | |
| Kirby: Planet Robobot | - | |
| The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds | One of the few 2D Zelda games I enjoyed the whole way through. Loved the freedom to do any dungeon in any order by renting items. | |
| The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D | Very captivating premise and stressful time limit. Side quests make the adventure infinitely more interesting and fun based on the clock. | |
| Mario Kart 7 | My first 3DS game I played when I got the system. Played this game to death when it was my only game for months. Took a lot of elements from Mario Kart Wii, pretty fun tracks, just not as iconic. | |
| Miitopia | Extremely charming Mii game. Admittedly feels brain-off with the autoplay combat, but the quirky and unserious vibes make up for it. | |
| New Super Mario Bros. 2 | - | |
| Pokémon X/Y | Really anticipated this game when it first came out, but not really memorable to me nowadays. Utilized a lot of online features for the first time, Wonder Traded a LOT. | |
| Pokémon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby | Really loved this Hoenn remake, despite how much easier it was. Expanded a lot of the original mechanics to increase the replay value. | |
| Pokémon Moon/Sun | The most hyped I've felt for a Pokémon game. One of my favorite regions to explore, memorable characters. The constant handholding bogs the experience down, though. | |
| Pokémon Ultra Moon/Sun | Preferred way to play Alola. Basically the same game, but more complete. More polish, but less reason to exist. | |
| Super Mario 3D Land | One of my first 3D Mario games. A good entry point for my first 3D adventure. Very linear and a little generic, but enjoyable to play through. | |
| Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS | I was DYING to play this game for a year, logged a LOT more of this version over the Wii U version because of the portability. My first chronic online addictions and it may have destroyed my Circle Pad... | |
| Tomodachi Life | Very quirky and charming Mii game that's basically a pet simulator. Love the real-time mechanics and various interactions. |
Wii U
| Just Dance 2015 | The first Just Dance I bought digitally for my Wii U. Thought the GamePad implementation was novel, but superfluous with Party Master Mode. Song selection was a step down. | |
| Just Dance 2016 | The last Just Dance games I bought new, really disappointed by the song selection. Not many new exciting modes to stand out. | |
| The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild | One of my favorite games of all time. Sank hundreds of hours exploring Hyrule just for fun. Played this version the whole way through because I couldn't afford a Switch at the time. | |
| The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD | Beautiful remake that smooths out the rough parts of the adventure like faster sailing and an easier Triforce Quest. | |
| Mario Kart 8 | Extremely polished and definitive Mario Kart game with an iconic track design and soundtrack that lasted over a decade. | |
| New Super Mario Bros. U | - | |
| Nintendo Land | - | |
| Splatoon | Played this game a year after launch, instantly fell in love with the gameplay and universe. First time playing a competitive game with friends. | |
| Super Mario 3D World | Unironically one of my favorite 3D Mario games, despite how linear and generic it can feel. Level design and multiplayer are always fun. Completed this game 3 times. | |
| Super Mario Maker | My most anticipated title of 2015, unlocked my creative side. Although most levels were garbage, the gems really stood out as really fun and novel. | |
| Super Smash Bros. for Wii U | Extremely fun and meaty Smash game with lots to unlock. Lots of fond high school bonding memories playing 8 player smash. | |
| Wii Party U | A decent B-Side of a Mario Party-like experience. More variety rather than lasting impressions. Got this game free as part of a Wii U bundle promotion. | |
| Yoshi's Woolly World | Deceptively cozy, yet difficult platformer. Love the vibes, but dread getting the collectibles. |
